Dee' Dii' canteen
25.5”x19”x11.5” (measurements include stand)
Part of the Heard Indian Market 2025 collection
The churro ram head is made to tease function. It is playful nod toward a canteen with four removable horns that act as ‘cups’. This pot is built with coils using traditional clay. It is stone polished and pit fired outdoors. The head is fired in an open pit, allowing the dramatic red tones to be decided by the fire. Lastly it is coated with Pinon Pitch. The horns were fired in a separate firing and then reduced to blacked the surface. The horns are constructed with the trade secret technique of multidirectional corrugation. Each “layer” is a constructed coil that is either pinched or left smooth. The horns are keyed and lock into the head via rotation. There are leather ties to ensure stability and a second degree of attachment. The bottom of the head is signed “Jared Tso 2025”
